ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Falak Shawwa is a freelance photographer currently living in Beirut, Lebanon. She collaborates with Rimal Publications on several projects.
Recent projects included photographing Palestinian children in Refugee Camps in Lebanon and special assignments with the Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation and UNICEF.
Falak also did the cover photography for the Ombudsman Annual Report 2005 under the Equality Authority of Cyprus. She also continues to work on several corporate photography projects throughout the Gulf region and the Middle East.
Falak worked and trained with Reuters and AFP as a photo editor and photographer in Beirut, Lebanon and Nicosia, Cyprus.

"Palestinian Embroidery Motifs: A Treasury of Stitches 1850 -1950" by Margarita Skinner in association with Widad Kawar.
"Olives and Lemons: Traces of Cyprus Past" by Shirley Kay.
Falak was awarded 2nd place in a Street Photography competition in Beirut, Lebanon called "Lakum Hamra2akum wa li Hamra2i".
