A series of lectures supported by the Altajir World of Islam Trust in various institutions providing teaching or doing research in Islamic studies is brought together in two volumes. The subjects are those chosen by the lecturers and cover aspects of Arabic language, art and architecture as well as Islamist thought and political movements. Many of the lecturers are now senior figures in British academic life.
