Publisher

Publisher Nora Shawwa is a veteran in the communications world for over 30 years and held a number of senior positions in international publishing companies. She founded Rimal Publications in 1993. During the course of her career she launched several highly successful projects and has worked with renowned identities, authors and artists. 

 

Gerald Butt

Advising Editor

Award-winning BBC correspondent and analyst for a range of radio, television and print outlets, Gerald Butt has spent nearly 40 years covering the MENA region. He is the author of several books on the Middle East.

 

Fadia Shawwa

Editorial & Reviews Unit

Fadia is the head coordinator for the Editorial and Reviews Unit communicating with Rimal editors, contributors and media outlets. She attained her Masters degree in Middle East Politics from SOAS in London, and has worked with editorial teams at publications such as Middle East international and The Daily Star.

 

Emilia Panayi

Customer Relations & Sales Unit

Fluent in three languages, Emilia Panayi has over 10 years experience in the publishing industry. She currently heads the Customer Relations and Sales Unit at the company.

 

Falak Shawwa

Photographer

A vibrant freelance photographer, Falak Shawwa is recognized for her photography and developing projects that support charities and NGO’s. Her work has been exhibited in the Middle East, Europe and Canada. She handles all projects and event photography for Rimal. 

 

Ali Shawwa

Creative Director

With a background in Environmental Design and Urban Planning, Ali Shawwa has accumulated over 14 years of versatile experience in marketing, publishing and consulting. As creative director he leads the conceptual development, marketing and production activities at Rimal. 

 

Mayda Freije Makdessi

Design Associate

A graphic designer, illustrator and writer of children's books, Mayda received a Master of Science degree in Communication from Pratt Institute in New York. She currently teaches various courses at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the American University of Science & Technology (AUST).

 

Chara Adamidou

Design Associate

Chara Adamidou works in the fields of illustration, graphic design and book publishing. She is the co-founder of Bomba Design and has a BA in Illustration and Animation, Kingston University and Diploma in Screenprinting, LCC.


 

Wissam Itani

Design Associate

With nearly two decades of experience in graphic design and production in one of the leading design agencies in Kuwait, Wissam Itani is the founder of WE Design offering a full range of advertising, illustration and graphic design services.
